Rates

Card and bank rates by plan

One rate per payment, whatever you sell. The plan you are on is the only thing that changes it — moving up a tier lowers it.

Rates on payments without automatic tax calculation. Bank payments are available on membership dues only.

Scale2.9% + 30¢0.8%1% + 40¢
  • Card payments cost a percentage of the payment plus a flat $0.30, on any amount.
  • In the United States, bank payments carry no flat fee, and the processing part of the rate stops adding up past $5 a payment.
  • In Canada, bank payments add a flat $0.40, and the processing part of the rate stops at $5 a payment.
  • That ceiling is why bank payments get cheaper the bigger they are. Your plan’s rate still applies to the whole payment — only the processing part stops growing — so on Scale, where your plan adds nothing on top, even a large membership payment costs barely more than $5.
  • If you use automatic sales-tax calculation, add 0.5% on the payments where tax was worked out for you. It is not charged on the rest.

Where each rate applies

Bank payments are for membership dues

Bank payments take a few business days to clear. On a recurring dues date nobody notices; on a class starting this evening, they would.

Memberships

Your members pick card or bank when they buy a membership, and again whenever they change the payment method behind their dues. Bank details also do not expire, so you lose fewer memberships to a card that quietly stopped working.

Classes, bookings and passes

Checkout for a class, a booking, a league or a pass is card-only. A place with a date on it has to be paid for the moment someone takes it, and a payment that clears next week cannot do that.

Your country sets the bank option

Businesses in the United States take bank payments by ACH debit; businesses in Canada take them by pre-authorized debit. It follows the country your business is set up in rather than a setting you choose, and a business only ever has one.

A Canadian business cannot use the US rate, so if that is you, the Canada column is the one that applies — 1% + 40¢ on Scale.
